ICW 2023
We worked with the local organising committee from bid stage to help secure the International Complement Societies Workshop into the UK. After many years, and some COVID-19 related delays, the date was finally set for 2023 and Newcastle upon Tyne became the location, with Newcastle University hosting. The event spanned six days, with an initial teaching day, bringing over 350 complement academics and students into the region.
We supported the ICS committee and local organising committee from managing sponsorship, ticket sales and registrations, alongside curating a social programme including a welcome reception at BALTIC, Gala Dinner at the Civic Centre, LOC dinner at Blackfriars, a quiz at the coast, Wylam Brewery tour, and St James Park tour. We also managed the keynote travel arrangements, abstract booking system, facilitating the scoring and approvals with system to create a full programme of oral speakers and poster presentations, including digital posters.
BeaconHouse Events managed the onsite experience from greeting, registration, venue liaison, catering and AV.
Please accept our congratulations on an outstanding 29th ICW in Newcastle.
Also, accept our gratitude for all the hard work you have done – it was wonderful, scientifically, and ‘emotionally’.
So many people expressed during and after the meeting how well it all went and what a great time they had.
Although we all know that hybrid meetings will likely be part of our future, this nice meeting showed that in-person meetings and discussion have still the biggest impact.President of ICW, Claudia Kemper

NICA: City of Longevity
We worked with client NICA, to create an event where cities from all over the world meet in Newcastle to discuss a new model for the future.

Another special guest was Millie the Labrador, who demonstrated the Whistle tech health app which provides insights into your dog’s behaviour by tracking daily activities, health trends and location!
The conference was held at The Catalyst, in the impressive theatre space, lending to some innovative stage panel formats, encouraging interaction, discussion and collaboration. The day culminated with a reception and dinner at Blackfriars to allow our international delegation experience a taste of Newcastle’s medieval past.

Good to Grow
This engaging event, held at INNSiDE Newcastle, featured four distinguished speakers, a thought-provoking panel session, and an interactive format that fostered collaboration and knowledge-sharing. The venue’s commitment to excellence complemented the event’s focus on “good growth” through ethical business practices. Attendees benefited from the conducive environment and contemporary amenities provided by INNSiDE Newcastle, further enhancing the overall success of the event. We contacted Beacon House events and other providers to help us deliver this event. It was clear from the start that Beacon House Events are experienced in the delivery of B2B events. They were able to advise on the venue, the mix of speakers, manage sponsors and even source some speakers we hadn’t already thought of. It was really important that this event impressed as a first event for the Good Work Pledge. The event did just that, we were overwhelmed by the positive feedback from both attendees and speakers. Having Beacon House and the team there on board was a huge part of this success, they were with us the whole way. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. Caroline Preston, North Tyne Combined Authority

A Better Start
BeaconHouse Events started working with the National Children’s Bureau (NCB) and other partners in early 2021 to support in the creation and management of a collaborative, one-off webinar for ‘A Better Start’ which is a 10-year, £215 million National Lottery funded programme focused on promoting good early childhood development.
Now, for the 3rd year we have supported NCB to deliver their annual virtual event via Zoom meetings through services including webinar management, speaker briefing management and recordings, technical assistance, virtual rehearsals, attendee communications and online delivery. The annual flagship event boasted over 750 registered attendees with a mixture of both pre-recorded presentations and live keynotes and panels. This was a half day event with three simultaneous sessions, with both live and recorded content.
“Thanks once again for all the support from Beaconhouse leading up to, during and after the event. As ever, it has been invaluable and helped to deliver another great ABS event.”
Sarah Creek | Early Years Programme Lead | National Children’s Bureau
