ISCB43

BeaconHouse Events worked closely with Newcastle University and the International Society for Clinical Biostatistics for more than two years to develop and deliver their 43rd international academic conference – ISCB43, hosted in Newcastle in August 2022. We managed the whole event from start to end and handled 535 delegate registrations from 37 countries, 359 abstract submissions and sponsors to bring everyone successfully together for the five day conference programme.

The conference was delivered as a hybrid event with 391 attendees in person and 137 joining online only. We used the Cvent platform to host virtual elements of the event including virtual socials and a historical tour of Newcastle. All content was live streamed and available on demand, delegates engaged simultaneously in sessions through the app, networked, attended online and offline social events and local excursions, and shared learning and experiences.

“We are very, very grateful for all your help. It was my impression that this was one of the slickest ISCBs I have ever been to – everything just seemed to work. That this was the case while delivering a hybrid version was something that I think astonished and impressed the delegates very much.”
John Matthews, ISCB43 Conference Treasurer, Newcastle University

“You were all so familiar with how the programme and use of site had developed so you were willing and able to be adaptable as the days went by. I really hope we can work with you in the future for other conferences and events.”
Dawn Teare, ISCB43 Conference Local Organising Committee Chair, Newcastle University

NIHR Annual Scientific Meeting 2022

After successfully converting their 2021 Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) to a virtual event we were pleased to support NIHR School for Public Health Research to deliver their 2022 ASM virtually. The two-day conference featured a keynote from Professor Sir Chris WhittyChief Medical Officer (CMO) for England and the UK government’s Chief Medical Adviser, alongside live and simu-live broadcasts. The event took advantage of the Hopin platform, utilising the ‘expo area’ for panel style break-out sessions, and the 1:1 networking to connect attendees. After working with the team for two years on their virtual events, we are delighted to be supporting the NIHR team for their transition back to offline events in the future.

“Why would we go back to doing it ourselves now that we have worked with you guys? It seems crazy that we used to do it all ourselves. You have made yourselves indispensable!”
Susan Bowett, NIHR School for Public Health Research (SPHR)

Shared Prosperity Fund

BeaconHouse Events were commissioned to plan and deliver a stakeholder consultation event at The Alnwick Garden for the North of Tyne Combined Authority. We worked closely with the client team, over a short lead time, to invite and manage registrations and communications to participants, liaise with the venue and support with the planning and format for the event.

“We’re delighted with how the event went, thank you to you and Lewis once again for all of your help, it certainly made it a much smoother process.”
Lisa Harwood, Senior Economic Development and Regeneration Officer, North of Tyne Combined Authority

Fenwick 140 Years

Since 1882 Fenwick has proudly empowered generations of women through the circus of life. BeaconHouse Events were asked to be part of team to embrace themes of the circus and draw inspiration from the Fenwick founder – a dressmaker with a bold, entrepreneurial spirit – to create a VIP Preview celebrating 140 years of Fenwick at their Newcastle store.

With only ten days to pull together everything to make the evening a celebration to be remembered, we made excellent use of local suppliers, seasonal produce and experts to bring the circus to toon!

“I just want to say a huge thank you to the amazing Beacon House team for all the hard work you have put into our event, and on such short notice! We have been receiving such great feedback all around – everyone had a great time.”

Aurora Fenwick, Fenwick Limited

Opencast: 10 Years

BeaconHouse Events work with Opencast Software to deliver their internal staff engagement events throughout the year, March 2022 brought with it an exciting milestone for Opencast – their tenth anniversary! To mark the occasion we created an event in their HQ hometown of Newcastle upon Tyne and transformed Brinkburn Brewery in Byker to be a transitional event space that would perform well for formal presentations followed by less formal celebrations to be enjoyed by staff. The celebration boasted all the perks worthy of such a celebration; street food, yurts, delicious cakes, balloons, impressive tech, branded merch, company brand beer, lights, cameras, action and plenty of drinks!

It’s always fantastic working with the team at Opencast from the moment they give us a brief we let our imaginations run wild to meet and exceed expectations. Seeing the company grow at such a rapid rate encourages us to deliver bigger and better events for them with every new addition to their calendar, becoming an integral part of their team in knowing and sharing their aims to develop an award winning culture and create experiences that their team relish.

A few words from attendees:

“The event was incredible! The venue was fitting the food and service at the bar was great, but I particularly enjoyed seeing from all the different breakout groups, hearing about what the departments are doing to support and grow the business.”

“Well done to the team that organised the conference, a great event.”

“Fantastic event in a great location. Great to meet more of the team. Huge thank you to the organisers!”

“Smashed it – such a great evening! :)”

DIBI 2022

Design It. Build It. Is the Digital Industry Conference which annually welcomes a stellar line up of speakers exploring digital products and services. After a ‘pandemic-break’ DIBI returned with a bang to Edinburgh International Convention Centre in March 2022. The incredible programme touched on exploring design systems, how curiosity may save us, AI reconnecting people with their wellbeing, f*****g off the office, security v usability, prototyping, business growth, art direction, design principles for the web, design for diversity and inclusion, reconnecting with audiences, action-orientated user journeys, metrics and beauty and asking if sharing can save the world. Overwhelming feedback from the international delegation of nearly 200 attendees proved a healthy appetite for the return of the event and planning is already underway for the 2023 instalment.

BeaconHouse Events work alongside Komodo in the creative development of the event, we’re involved with everything from the initial planning and creation of a critical path timeline, throughout the programme format, call for speakers, marketing and communications, supplier selection, venue finding, sponsorship management and everything in between. We’re delighted to be part of the team bringing DIBI back to Edinburgh for 2023 and watch this space for annual fringe events on and offline!

A Better Start

BeaconHouse Events started working with the National Children’s Bureau (NCB) and other partners in early 2021 to support in the creation and management of a collaborative, one-off webinar for ‘A Better Start’ which is a 10-year, £215 million National Lottery funded programme focused on promoting good early childhood development.

After the success of the cross-partner webinar in June 2021, we have continued to support the NCB to deliver the Better Start annual online event through services including webinar management, speaker briefing management and recordings, technical assistance, virtual rehearsals and online delivery. The annual flagship event boasted over 750 registered attendees with a mixture of both pre-recorded presentations and live keynotes and panels.

Bridgestone 2022 virtual team kick off

We worked with Beyond Curious and Bridgestone to deliver a virtual kick off meeting for the commercial fleet team. Creating impact and engagement with the audience was key as they set out their targets for 2022. BeaconHouse supported with securing and managing a inspirational keynote speaker – Mandy Hickson, managed the AV and studio set up, and facilitated the online delivery including teambuilding breakouts, and a live Q&A using Menti, ensuring smooth running for the 200+ attendees across Zoom.

“When it came to delivering our client’s hybrid company conference, we had no hesitation in working with BeaconHouse. They offer everything you want in a partner – expertise, collaboration, co-operation, communication, attention to detail – and were a perfect fit. Sophie and Sarah were integral to the event’s success and I would recommend them to anyone looking for professional event services.”
Anna Watts, Beyond Curious

“I wanted to say a massive thank you for all the work yesterday and in the build up to our Kick Off event. You were all awesome to work with! Thanks to the help of the others behind the scenes as well.”

After delivering a successful virtual solution and transition of the annual International Sports + Exercise Nutrition Conference in 2020 we supported the team in 2021 with another 3 day virtual conference. Featuring speakers from across the globe, poster presentations and a virtual exhibition.

ATOMICON 21

ATOMICON is a conference focused on marketing, sales tactics and growth strategies for small business owners. After an online edition in 2020, the event came back with a bang featuring Dragon’s Den Star Deborah Meaden, Facebook guru Ann Handley, keynote extraordinaire Drew Davis, and TikTok star Kyne alongside a variety of other parallel sessions. The Sage Gateshead provided a perfect backdrop for the learning, alongside the entertainment on offer for attendees including Cyclone Machine, Selfie Spots, Gif Generator, sweeties, and a comfortable chill out zone. The fun started on the afternoon prior with member meet-ups, a Speaker party at ABOVE, and Pre-Party Jazzy Shirt Party at Livello. The event culminated in an after party at the hotspot Revolución de Cuba. Online guests were treated to live streams of the content alongside exclusive competitions and virtual parties. BeaconHouse Events managed venues, speakers, suppliers, AV, exhibitors, branding, registration and onsite delivery.

Bring It On 2021: Net Zero North East

Following the success of Bring It On’s virtual programme in 2020, we were contracted to help support Bring It On North East’s 2021 hybrid event. Bring It On encourages students across the North East to pursue a career in Engineering. The event format was hybrid, filmed at a North East college location and live streamed to schools via YouTube on Thursday 4th November. BeaconHouse Events successfully planned and delivered the communications and logistics for the hybrid event. Part of the event delivery was to set up school class visits to various engineering company sites and match up numerous volunteer engineering professionals for a visit into a North East school on the event day. We reached 2,000 students virtually, with many of them engaging with an engineering professional via a site or in-school visit.

Thank you so much for everything, you have been so easy to work with and the quality of what you do has really impressed us all, here is to BIO 2022.
Carol Harrison, Bring It On

BeaconHouse crew were simply awesome, spotting and mitigating every single detail and then reacting when the completely unexpected popped up. You have kept me sane the last few days when things were becoming incomprehensible!
